NOT sweating! in ooty

ok so its taken me like over 20 min to even get this god forsaken computer to work and then maybe another 10 to log into blog so im feeling a little agitated right now!!! but aaaanyway...

were now in ooty which is i guess the most famous old british hill station in southern india...and its cold here!!! well cool but yesterday when we arrived it was mad raining and flooding so out came the gortex once again! and the hoodie...and the runners... ok there were a few things i wanted to write about so now i gotta try and remember.....

ah i wanted to say, travelling is catching up with me and im quite tired and getting lazy nowadays. so my saving grace? movies!!! we had a marathon session at the sweetest movie theatre in goa; pirates 3 and shrek 3, one after the other! rather intense but all the while enjoyable. lookit that people back home, ive watched pirates too! and ooooh my love of satellite tv. after hampi (which by the way, we didnt have electricity for 24 hours), we were in mysore for 2 nites and there we indulged in 2 horrible but oh so satisfying chick flicks: bring it on again (or something like that) and the perfect man starring heather locklear as hilary duff's mommy. you see? obviously horrible. BUT these 2 movies provided 2 of the best (or worst) lines ever!

bring it: "make like a tom....and cruise"
perfect man: "love is like friendship that's on fire"

i feel like ive now shared something really special with you all.

moving on...in mysore we went to the maharajah's palace which was really cool. lots of gold, silver, stained glass from glasgow or something like that...we had a cute little guide too who got all angry at some dude who was trying to listen in on his ....guiding. all the while i just thought to myself, "man, id love to watch aladdin right now!" mixed with "i wish i was a maharajah!!!"

and then yesterday we arrived in ooty! i am so in love with the fact that im not hot. oh and weve seen 2 unichs!!! and yes that has zero connection, but im trying to remember all the things i wanted to write about and thats one of them. i dont even know how to spell unich, but they were my first and they just look like ugly dudes wearing saris.

anyway, we thought wed go ultra ghetto and stay in a seriously cheap ass dorm at the YWCA.....SUCH A MISTAKE!!! we didnt actually stay there cause i swear the place was fucking haunted!!! (ok and meghan pointed out that maybe its cause me and krista are highly impressionable cause we were watching documentaries on hauntings and such the nite before but i dont think so!!!) it was the creepiest place id ever been in. it was massive and looked like a really fucking old nunnery and they took us down this looong hall passing all these empty rooms, and the bathroom which was fucking padlocked!! to our room like deep in the bowels of the building. the room was dark, dreary and and dank. and looked like something out of a horror movie. krista just brought me a croissant and adds that maybe its cause we were (attempting) to watch the movie "house of wax" the nite before as well. but probably, people have been murdered there. it was horrid. meghan's guidebook even said it was not a good place for women.

OH! and krista just reminded me, since it was the YWCA, it was VERY christian. there were signs about jesus all over the place and one read that he was the head of the house and the "silent listener" thats always present. HOW FREAKY IS THAT? so glad we didnt stay there. (meghan wanted to go back today. shes insane)

now instead were staying at a pimp hotel that looks like a whistler chalet! and i watched an intense star wars marathon last nite so im happy.

i cant remember what to write so im looking to krista....the busride here was awful. we were in a mini bus and the driver tried to rip us off by telling us we had to pay more than our bus tickets fare to drive through a national park. it was on the main road anyway. speaking of being ripped off, people here are relentless. in mysore this guy initially tried being friendly with us so wed go to his store but when we refused he told us to go get elephantitus and die. also he told us were arrogant, have big egos, and are like americans. he really knows how to insult us canadians!
anyway, the bus ride. all along the road had big signs that said "hair pin turns!!" and the corners were seriously insane. i think were all bruised and our backs are killing us. ok i cant think of what else there is to write at this point....

so "giddy up and keep on going" - krista

Lookit that! I'm the first one to comment on this blog entry! I feel so special! And you should too because I'm making an effort to show that I'm still reading your blogs and I miss you tons and I hate how I haven't actually talked to you in ages and you haven't emailed me or anything! :( Anyways, wanted to point out that you're totally living the life as you're travelling...completely work free... AND you've already seen Pirates 3! I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE TIME TO SEE THAT MOVIE YET! Can you believe that?! PLUS I only JUST saw Shrek 3 this past week. I am so behind the times. Glad you guys got yourself out of that haunted nunnery... pimp hotels are always the way to go! Give Krista and Meghan a hug for me! Love ya!
