i love ooty....but i hate this fucking internet cafe!!! im ready to throw all of these computers against the wall cause theyre fucking stone age and barely functional. but aaaaanywayyyyy....
we're still in ooty and i love it here cause its nice and cool and reminds me a lot of vancouver. there's lots of evergreen trees here and driving through the forests its a lot like stanley park. plus it smells like eucalyptus here which is nice. oh yeah...and it rains!
now eug is back in the troupe and all 4 of us are holed up together in our sweet ass hotel room, living the life and enjoying our satellite movie channels and the national geographic channel. india is so educational!
by the way, i wanted to point out how we now dispose of our garbage here in india. one day in hampi i asked a man (let's call him...antonio)where the garbage bin was...
me: excuse me, where's the garbage?
antonio: ha ha ha, throw it on the street!!!
me: what!?
antonio: you're in india!!! now throw it!
and he laughed and laughed and stared at me till i hesitantly chucked the garbage on the street. i tried to pick a large crack in the street. i felt awful. (and now wasnt that a delightful little script right there? based on true events.)
moving on...oh i had forgotten to say, we experienced the maddest thunder and lightning storm of all time in hampi. our electricity went out and the thunder was absolutely deafening that i dont think any of us really got any sleep that nite. and the lightning was so frequent and bright that our room was completely illuminated. i can honestly say that i did not enjoy that nite. anyway...i thought it was worth mentioning! and speaking of hampi which unfortunately is associated with hell hole hospet due to sheer proximity, our stalker is STILL calling!
oh speaking of negative experiences....posting! in mysore i wanted to send home some pillow cases and random junk. little did we know the difficulty that was to be involved. first of all, the post office didnt provide any material whatsover for packaging. so some dude took us into an alley filled with cows, poo and coconut husks (?) and left us there for a good while. he comes back with cloth, measures my package and then leaves again. he comes back with what now resembles a pillow case and sticks my shit in there and sews it up by hand. so that was how my package got sent home: in a fucking cloth pillow case. time was a ticking already and im highly impatient so i wasnt happy. then the workers at the post office were goddamn useless as well. apparently they dont have pens. oh reeeeaaaaallllllyyyy. anyway it ended up costing me a mini fortune and then that's that. everytime i want to buy souvenirs from now on, eug has been instructed to tell me: remember, you have to post it! so mom, dont expect anything else from me for a while. and please actually open and look at the things i send home to you! where is the love!?
anyway, angelee and her waterloo pose were also in town with us for a couple of days and it was nice to see them again. we went to a tea plantation and a tea factory with them which was really interesting. we learned that practically all words for 'tea' in different languages is based on the chinese word for tea. i found that interesting anyway.
today we got our own driver to take us on our own little private tour to the neighbouring hill station town of coonor which is like a less developed ooty. it was lots of fun actually and he took us to all the touristy spots there and the scenery and landscape were amazing. fields and fields of tea leaves and were high up in the mountains so you can see for miles. (not that i know how much is a mile...but its miles.) we also drove by a military weapons training center where they had cardboard cut outs of hand painted army dudes in camo outfits which i found highly amusing and not the least bit intimidating.
oh and my old cell # still doesnt work here but i do have a (tentative) new one:
+919902409943
me and eug had a quasi competition to see who would get the first phone call and hes already had at least 2 attempts from people and ive had ZIP! im super choked! he pointed out that perhaps its cause no one had my new number but still i doubt anyone tried. please call me.
and that's that, i cant think of anything else to talk about right now. apparently im losing my short term memory cause i cant ever remember what it is i wanna blog about. and when i do remember things, it comes up at random hence the complete lack of continuity in my post. anyway, its time to get some dinner and then go home to watch "speed 2: cruise control". (yup thats right. we get reaaaaallly excited to watch bad movies nowadays. im so pumped for speed 2!!!)
