greetings from beijing! this is gonna be a half-assed post cause the internet here at the hostel is majorly slow plus im dead tired. when we get back into hangzhou i'll put up a fat ass photo post but for now you'll have to be satisfied with just my brain dead rambling...
so after a lovely 14 hour train ride, we are now in beijing. we're staying in a little hostel in a hutong (alley) that's filled with cute little restaurants and stores. i'm in a 6 person dorm with a bunch of dudes but it's not so bad. one thing that has become very evident to me is that all bread they have here is sweet. as in you eat a ham and cheese sandwich, and it's sweet. pizza is sweet too. i find that kinda narsty and i'm not so sure that it'll grow on me but we shall see.
yesterday we went to the forbidden city which is pretty massive but now that we're champion walkers it was good times. i got one of those lame-o audio tour guides so i felt extra special. then we went to tian'anmen square (i'm unsure of the spelling right now which is minorly embarassing since well, i'm in china plus i took chinese poli sci but i'm just too damn lazy to look it up). i lounged around on the ground for a while and got the sweetest thing ever: a watch with mao on it and his arm waves according to the seconds passing. ok it's not the sweetest thing ever and by last nite it's no longer working but whatever. it's still some kinda awesome.
today we busted our asses over to the great wall. we didn't go to the super touristy section but rather the most bad-ass section. according to the lonely planet it's 'not for the faint of heart' or some such thing. we made a friend, the cutest little lady ever, and i love her forever. more like she followed us around and talked to us because she wanted us to buy shit from her but she was so adorable how could one resist!? so now me and johnny have matching "i climbed the great wall" t-shirts. we're just too cool. well i'll write a better post soon but now my time is running out so i'm off!

Hello! Figured I should write you a comment since you're the second person to give me one. That reminds me, I should check out julia's site. So today is friday and i have 4 more hours of "working"/being on the internet until I can get off work =). It's so nice to have no one question my work.
Last weekend, we went to the Apartheid museum (my second time) and i'm thoroughly satisfied. Btw, the book's title is A long walk to freedom, not heaven. It's as big as my head... and thats pretty damn big but hopefully i can read it before i leave so i can visit the places that it mentions in the book.
We had Indonesian curry nite yesterday and it was delish! Everyone loved it. I wish I can just buy food from the streets over here but I'm afraid my ass will grow to an enormous size so i should really stay away from that. DId I tell you tom is thinking of coming out here for a week? Hope he does cuz we need someone to drive when we get to capetown! We would for sure get into a car accident if i drive there.
We'll be going to a small game park this weekend just for a day and also to a convent because the administrator of the hospice (who is a nun) invited me to go to her house for lunch and to play in her swimming pool =).
The nurse that is staying with me at my house is leaving for the weekend so i'm gonna stay at the german's chalet so I'm not alone. Aparently we're going to watch the exorcist of emily... something tonight. Good thing I'm not sleeping alone!
Well hope I can tell you more news next time cuz really... i got nothin'.

Today is "blog day". After Rani, I decided to give shit to my other friend Deeeeeee. But nice shit ! don t think because you are far away that you won t get disturbed.
The first thing I have to say is that I wish I could be there too. Not with you obviously, but in China somewhere. While reading your blog, just the Great Wall make me jealous. And then there is these tons of little stores with food, electronics, clothes etc etc... So cool.
That make me thinking that between you and Rani, you guys really have a problem with clothes. Anyway....
I looked at your pics and I have to say your short hair makes you younger but fits you pretty well. You even look cute on one of these !!! Then comes the famous pijamas picture. What should I say ??? maybe nothing it s better. (No wonder why local ppls look at you with a strange look !)
No, honestly I find great, cuze even there you are still the crazy girl i know and i love it ! I am sure John and you must have so much fun...
Now i have to confess, i am a bit worrying for you. After the last "accident" between the americans and the chineses, it might be a good idea to carry with you a gas mask, an anti-atomic coverall, few combopen and a gun... But don t forget, if you see the yankees invading the country, show them your canadian passeport, so they won t kill you.
On the other hand, watch out the Zhōnghuá Mínguó Lùjūn, whom could kill you if they find out you are from north-america. So have your passeport ready in case, but keep it hidded somewhere.
Now,to let you know about what is going on here in mid-january,(not in my area but in van,)i m getting all excited to go with the boy and girl to Mexico (una cerveza por favor). We finally found a compromise and I ll have the chance to share the bed with Eugene. I was afraid to have to share it with typhoon and her legendary craziness.(the quiter the worst) So yes we gonna spend 1 and 2 weeks down there, hoping that Eug won t forget the pack of Prozac (Eug if you read that..) so we won t have a battle with Tiff. No I m sure she will behave and be obedient. If i m telling you that is because i need a favour from you: you know her better than anybody i guess.. so if you could talk to her and tell her to be nice with us. Just for 2 weeks.. two miserable week.. I really want to have fun and peace during my vacation.
And if she doesnt behave, i ll send her strait to China in a forced-labor camp.
Anyway, now we all are waiting to see some more pictures of the Chinese girl in her mother land China.
