so we've been in hong kong since january 25th and we're finally packing our shit up and leaving tomorrow. we're busing into guangzhou and the next day we're taking a train into nanning. and from there we finally head outta china and into our next stop, vietnam! we've been in hong kong forever but according to my family, it's still not quite long enough. well i'm pretty sure we've seen everything that hk has to offer and we've been on every single MTR (metro) line except the one to the airport so you know, that ain't bad.
ok side note here, i wanna give a big shout out to everyone who's been leaving me comments on this here blog, i get super pumped when i see i've gotten one! (oh the things one gets excited over when they're away from home...) and so....don't just take, give back! as in...if you're reading this and not leaving me super awesome comments, then you should seriously at least THINK long and hard about posting something. i mean, i pour my blood, sweat and tears into this blog. but no pressure! (ok no, there's a lot of pressure. do it.)
aaaanyway, right after my last post we went out for dinner with the cousins that i grew up with in vancouver and then we went BOWLING. i love bowling and who'd have thought id be bowling on my trip to asia. i'm gonna seriously miss my family over here!
then yesterday we went over to lamma island where i got to see my very first wind turbine (i was seriously interested) and then i lay on the beach and fell asleep. i'm looking forward to many more beach days. and then today's our last full day in HK and it's kinda stressful (but knowing me i get stressed over nothing so that's not saying much) cause we have to pack, clean and whatever. i just spent an hour at the fucking post office trying to mail shit out and then was so flustered that i went out and bought a box of ice cream drumsticks and proceeded to come home, eat and drip chocolate over my one clean shirt that's not still wet from the laundry. (doing laundry sucks in china. we've been attempting to dry our jeans for who knows how many hours now and i had to go out to eat lunch in wet shorts. sick.)
so i still gotta pack and figure out how to burn my kajillion pictures that i've taken so far onto disks to send home but unfortch, everything on this computer is in chinese which i cannot read so i will probably either a) punch a hole through the screen after trying for 30 min or b) give up after 2 minutes and eat candy. ok... i just attempted the task and honestly, i dont even wanna try anymore and it's only been like 30 seconds and it's already given me a slight headache. fuck. oh and by the way, because little piggy the doggie poops in the kitchen, the apartment smells like a giant steaming pile of dog poop right now. yum! i'm gonna go eat a chinese raisin bun...
ok so now im just harsh procrastinating and i'm gonna upload and post a couple of the videos that we took in hong kong. they're entertaining for us at least...(oh and again, damn you youtube for drastically decreasing the quality and sound of our superb videos)
us at cheung chau (?) island, my first beach in asia.
in the middle of an intersection (seriously, we really know how to capture those special moments on video)
celebrating macho john's birthday at disneyland: the disney parade
alright well somehow it's already after 6 pm here...and the only thing we haven't done in hong kong is watch the laser show they've got shooting out of the buildings at nite, so off we go now!

So i get the point, you want comments! It sounds like you're doing tons of exciting stuff non-stop! My Germans left today and I'm sad. I got a Swazi necklace from Richard though, except some african girl gave it to him. I guess because she liked him.
I haven't been able to watch your videos cuz the computers here runs like a mofo. I'm not sure what I'm doing this weekend but it better be exciting cuz i'm getting bored over here without my friends already! I'm living with a dutch couple now who bicker non-stop. I liked the fact that they used to live away from me because if I wanted to visit them I could, and if I had enough of them, I go home. Now, they've already invaded my HOME!!!! aagghhh... They're our age but they act like they've been married for 50 years or something. At least I have a nurse living with us too who's fun to hang out with.
Anyways, hope to see your vid's soon.
miss you,
rani
okay. diana, it did it again! it deleted my comment. i hate blogspot! but i know the consequences if i don't post something so here you go...another brief-er comment....
(i completely forgot what i wrote before...so this is your comment: )
HK looks like so much fun! i enjoyed the body shop in the background...and was the disney parade being sung in cantonese? cause if it was, i don't understand john's lack of enthusiasm...haha. alright. i hope you have fun the rest of your time in HK, and i will email you if i get anything from hot prof (who, by the way, only elicited a "he's okay" response from meghan :O )for you guys to do or see in guangzhou....
until then....luv, stalker
ps. i had a great convo with kevin while mike was in the shower last night...lets just say for the first bit, i was extremely confused. hopefully mike got a hold of you
OH! Don't forget to send out your new phone number when you know it. AND, I WILL MESSAGE SEBASTIEN TODAY TO GET HIM TO CALL OR MSG YOU ASAP!
Haha... disney characters are all chinese. THAT's gotta cause some serious issues for a young kid who grew up thinking otherwise.
So... I got myself caught up on your posts Dee. You seem like you're having a wonderfully enviable time. Makes me want to start planning for my trips.. (I should).
I caught a real bad strain of flu/fever/cold all in one. Either that or it's strep throat, so I'm really rooting for the former. It's been 5 days of excrutiating pain and I think I'm finally going to see the doctor. This will be my first weekend sober, although I hear beer is good for the throat. o.O
Haha... btw, I'm a slow ass second place. Ponder that as you will when you wander around Asia.
Not much to update you here. Your family seems random and large and happy to see you in the East. Keep posting and I'll keep bothering you. Reading week is coming up for a lot of ppl... I'm hoping to head down to Vegas. lol... if I do, I'll post pictures... what happens in Vegas, hardly ever stays there. =p

So... I know I've been super bad and haven't left a comment here for quite awhile now... I'm sure you've supremely missed me :) BUT if it makes you feel any better, while you've been living it up in HK and watching Disney parades, I've been working like a dog at the hotel. Who knew slavery still existed in Canada....The only thing keeping me going are the constant acts of stupidity from hotel guests, which of course usually means more stress and work for myself but at the end of the day, it gives me a funny story to tell cuz really.. I have nothing else going on in my life at the moment!
My highlight of the week was rescuing 16 people trapped in our hotel elevator because they overloaded the elevator.. and after freeing them after 45 mins of being caged in like animals, the best part was watching all 16 of them try and get back into the next elevator to head back up to the 25th floor. Why are people so stupid?! Other highlights of the week included a lady accusing our staff of stealing her $14,000 diamond ring, kicking out a guest for ordering too many hookers with his 18 years old son and my valet attendant crashing a guest car in our parking lot. GOOD TIMES.
Anyways, it's amazing as always seeing all your adventures and I absolutely love all your videos! Can't wait to see what adventures you have in Vietnam! Still loving your blog as always...
Miss you! Linda
Judging by your videos, you guys are having SO much fun!! Keep posting videos, they make your blog THAT much more interesting, haha, j/k.
So yeah I've been CRAZY busy these days and I appologize for not posting comments on your blog. I just had the hardest freakin' exam in the program yesterday, and boy was it hard... My life has literally been put on hold since then, I haven't done the dishes in 5 days, and i've been using the same utensils for dinner because i've run out, it's that gross. Anyways, I survived, partied hard yesterday and am ready to go back to Vancouver next friday for reading break! yeah! yeah!
The disney parade in cantonese was hilarious...I can't wait to go to HK this summer!!

hey! i am replying, but i don't think I can beat all these super-long comments you're getting! anyway we miss you here!! nothing is really going on in vancouver and we see each other maybe once every 2 weeks? anyway no more hardcore partying for us anymore...we need our social coordinator back! and yes it sounds like you guys are having so much fun and every day sounds very action-packed. It's too bad you won't be able to spend chinese new year in hk/china because that would be so fun!! and of course you get major $$ from all those relatives of yours LOL. So do all the locals think that you're john's concubine or sth? i bet they do LOL. Dont' forget to leave out any scandalous stories...we won't judge LOL. anyway i'll ttyl!!!
i don't have a postcard either! :( happy chinese new year and valentines' day by the way! hehe!
